The Pediatric Developmental Center at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical center is the most comprehensive outpatient diagnostic and treatment center for children with special needs in the Chicago area. Augustana College Center for Speech, Language, and Hearing

Services offered include assessment and intervention for speech, language, fluency, tongue thrust, voice disorders, and dialect variations. In addition, intervention for language-based reading disabilities is provided. Both individual and group sessions are available. Several autism-specific programs and social language groups are offered year-round. Services are provided by student clinicians during the school year and by licensed, certified speech-language pathologists during the summer. The audiology clinic also provides numerous services including hearing screenings for all ages.

Black Hawk Area Special Education

TThe Black Hawk Area Special Education District (BHASED) is a special education joint agreement between thirteen local school districts in the Illinois counties of Henry, Mercer and Rock Island. We cover approximately 1,200 square miles and serve parents and school staff that work with approximately 30,000 public, private and parochial school students. We want teachers, parents, students, school administrators and all others that we serve to trust that BHASED staff are a valuable resource; that we are a team of professionals willing to partner with them to facilitate the appropriate education and socialization of all students.

OSF Healthcare – Children’s Hospital of Illinois

Established in 1990 as part of OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Children’s Hospital of Illinois is a 132-bed children’s general facility with more than 6,000 admissions per year. Its specialized care centers include a Level 1 Trauma Center, a Congenital Heart Center, a Pediatric Diabetes Resource Center and a Pediatric Surgery Center that spans 10 surgical specialties. The hospital has also received international recognition for service in neonatal intensive care.

Regional Autism Assistance Program

The Iowa Regional Autism Assistance Program (RAP) provides community-based clinical consultation, multidisciplinary care planning recommendations, and family to family support for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families. RAP team members who work with families include advanced registered nurse practitioners, registered nurses and family navigators. They use standardized tools to identify children at risk for ASD and help families find diagnostic services. RAP teams also help families access community-based services and supports to help meet their needs and goals. RAP also provides technical assistance and training on evidence-based screening and assessment tools to medical home providers, Area Education Agencies, and other early intervention community providers.

RI County Health Department

Hearing and Vision Screenings are provided, without charge, for all preschool children attending private or public licensed preschool and day care facilities. The Hearing and Vision program participates in collaborative preschool screenings held annually in all school districts of Rock Island County. The Health Department may be contracted to provide hearing and vision screenings in private and public school districts and special education facilities.

As Iowa's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD), the Center for Disabilities and Development (CDD) shares the vision of "a life in the community for everyone." We partner with Iowans with disabilities, their family members, providers, state and local agencies, and many others to improve the health and full community participation of persons with disabilities, and to advance the community supports and services on which they rely. We work towards our goals through University training, community training, technical assistance to state and local agencies/organizations, clinical services and direct community supports, research and policy analyses, and information sharing.
